Franciscan Hospice Care Seeking Volunteers

Franciscan Hospice Care Seeking VolunteersFranciscan Hospice Care will host upcoming volunteer training sessions for people interested in volunteering with area hospice patients and their families.

Training sessions will be from noon to 4 p.m. CDST on Monday, Sept. 18 and Wednesday, Sept. 20, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. CDST on Monday, Sept. 25 and Wednesday, Sept. 27. Training sessions will be at the Franciscan Hospice Care office, located in the Medical Outreach Building on the campus of Franciscan Health Rensselaer, 1104 E. Grace St. in Rensselaer.

Hospice volunteers provide a variety of services from staff support, special projects and bereavement to assisting families and providing support for the terminally ill. Responsibilities are assigned to volunteers that are consistent with their skills, availability and interests, accompanied by specialized training and education. There are no set time requirements or restrictions, so volunteering can work around almost any schedule.
