INDIANAPOLIS – Mark Miles, chair of the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee, joined Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard, Allison Melangton, president and chief executive officer of the Host Committee, and Rick Fuson, volunteer co-chair of the Super Bowl Village committee, just before Christmas to share preparations for Super Bowl XLVI and unveil details about activities in the Super Bowl Village.
“The Host Committee has entered the ‘red zone’ to use a football analogy,” said Miles. “With almost four years of planning behind us, we are moving closer to the goal line with a great team on – and off – the field. Through successful execution and implementation of community initiatives, including the Near Eastside Legacy Initiative, we are meeting our goals, and in most cases, exceeding them with strong community support.”
A three-block area along Georgia Street will become the Super Bowl Village, a free, family-friendly fan gathering spot that will be open Jan. 27 through Feb. 5.
Among the performers scheduled to appear on the Pepsi and Verizon stages are Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Bret Michaels, Corey Cox, Darius Rucker, Dierks Bentley, Edwin McCain, En Vogue, Fitz & the Tantrums, Fuel, Here Come The Mummies, IU's Straight No Chaser, LMFAO, Morris Day and the Time, O.A.R., Patti LaBelle, Railroad Earth, Sixpence None the Richer, Umphrey’s McGee, and Will Hoge.

The Host Committee announced “Know Before You Go,” the comprehensive transportation and parking plan during Super Bowl events.
