Buona, Rainbow Cone coming to Crown Point

Buona, Chicago’s Original Italian Beef, and The Original Rainbow Cone, are opening Aug. 12, near the Crown Point Sports Complex.

The Crown Point opening will kick off with a ribbon cutting 10:15 a.m. To celebrate, the first 500 guests will be given mystery prize envelopes. One winner will receive free beef for a year, while others will receive offers such as free food and discounts.

Since 1981, Buona has crafted its Italian beef the same way it was made in the early 1930s. Rainbow Cone, established in 1926, features slices, rather than scoops, of individual flavors.

Since partnering with Rainbow Cone in 2019, Buona has opened several shops alongside their Buona restaurants. Crown Point will be the second location in Indiana to offer both Buona and Rainbow Cone. Buona has restaurants in Valparaiso and Schererville and a Rainbow Cone shop in Dyer.

“There’s something really special about bringing these nostalgic Chicago flavors to new communities—especially here in Northern Indiana,” said Joe Buonavolanto III, Buona Companies executive vice president, in a press release. “Whether you grew up on Italian beef and Rainbow Cone or are experiencing your first taste of these iconic originals, we’re proud to share a little piece of our family traditions with everyone.”
