SunCoke Energy renews contract with Cleveland-Cliffs

Lisle, Illinois-based SunCoke Energy Inc. announced that it has agreed to a 12-year extension of its contract with Cleveland-Cliffs Inc.

The contract includes provisions for providing 1.2 million tons of metallurgical coke annually from its Indiana Harbor facility in East Chicago.

“This contract renewal affirms the long-term partnership of SunCoke and Cleveland-Cliffs,” said Mike Rippey, CEO of SunCoke, in a press release. “We are pleased to continue supplying coke from our Indiana Harbor facility to the largest blast furnace in North America.”

SunCoke's East Chicago facility began operating in 1998 and has an annual capacity of 1.2 million tons of coke. Coke is used in the production of steel. SunCoke has facilities in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Virginia and Brazil.
