Citizen * Soldier * Citizen (C * * C), an art exhibit of contemporary works by recent combat veterans, November 1, 2013 – February 9, 2014.  * * C honors those who have fought for our country and those fighting to reintegrate back to society after experiences of war, specifically those after 9/11/2001.  Free and open to the public, opening reception November 1, 5-8pm (CST)

Peace Paper Project  Friday, November 1 at Lubeznik Center in conjunction with the opening of Citizen * Soldier * Citizen, directors of Peace Paper Project, Margaret Mahan and Drew Matott, will be offering a public papermaking demonstration made from military uniforms donated from every branch of service.  They will pulp the fibers and transform the mixture into paper on which artwork will be created.  Area veterans are invited to a subsequent free workshop when they can bring in a set of their own to cut, pulp and reform into sheets of paper for their own artwork or writing.

“Where Soldiers Come From” November 14th at 6:30 p.m.,  Award winning documentary film “Where Soldiers Come From” follows the four-year journey of three childhood friends from a snowy small town in Northern Michigan to the mountains of Afghanistan and back! Free and open to the public, November 14, 6:30 pm (CST)

Veteran’s Honor Wall, We invite the community to become part of this exhibition by adding their veterans’ names, as a tribute or a memorial, to the Honor Wall. Veterans’ names can be added for a minimum donation of $10.00. To register a name for the Wall, please go to www.lubeznikcenter.org/honorwall by October 15. Donations can also be made in person at Lubeznik Center for the Arts. The Honor Wall will be on display for the duration of the exhibition at Lubeznik Center for the Arts from November 1, 2013 through February 9, 2014.

Family Art Nights Veterans and their families are invited to participate in docent led tours, family art making along with food and refreshments. Free to veterans and their families, dates TBA

How can you or your organization become involved?

–  Attend the Citizen * Soldier * Citizen opening on November 1, visit or schedule a docent led group tour of the exhibition from November 2 through February 9

–  Sign up as a participant in the Peace Paper Project Workshop and bring a uniform to transform into paper

–  Add a name to our Veteran’s Honor Wall Citizen * Soldier * Citizen

–  Provide a monetary contribution to support the exhibition and planned programming.  Donations of $2500 or more will have be recognized in all publicity and on banners located at the entrance and on the grounds of the building
