Gibson executive receives Distinguished Hoosier Award

Ron Turpin, chief financial officer and principal at Gibson, is a recipient of the Distinguished Hoosier Award.

The award is presented by the state of Indiana to its citizens at the discretion of the governor to outstanding residents for their accomplishments and contributions to their communities.

Turpin handles the day-to-day operations of Gibson, provides cadence, is accountable for the profit and loss results and executes the business plan, according to information on the Gibson website. He also oversees the company’s ESOP and 401k plans, forecasting and budgeting, and developing key stakeholder relationships.

Prior to joining Gibson in 2015, Turpin was vice president of finance at Lincoln Financial Group where he worked for 14 years in a variety of leadership positions in the retail sales division. Throughout his career at Lincoln he was recognized for his results-oriented, team-focused leadership.

Community honors he has received include: 2017 Community Service Award, Indiana CPA Society; 2016 Northeast Indiana CFO of the Year; 2016 Athena Leadership Award; 2014 Bill Latz Award for Leadership; 2012 Indiana United Way Volunteer of the Year; and 2010 Greater Fort Wayne 40 Under 40.

Gibson is an insurance brokerage firm with locations in South Bend, Plymouth, Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, and Elkhart, and Kalamazoo, Mich.
