CHESTERTON – This weekend is Lakeshore 12-20, a fun family health and cancer awareness event hosted by the Foundation For Molecular Medicine and sponsored by Franciscan Alliance. It is Sunday, June 23, at Indiana Dunes State Park.

The event starts at 9 a.m. with a 5k run, walk, bike, or paddle with the timed race starting at the Chesterton Park. Prizes will be awarded to top finishers along with grand prizes for the top fund raisers after the race. Shuttle buses will provide transportation from the entrance of the Indiana Dunes State Park to the start line at Chesterton Park adjacent to the Chesterton Middle School and back into the Dunes at the finish line.

All entrance fees and donations from the event go directly towards education on the early detection of metastatic cancers, neurodegenerative diseases, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles. The registration fee includes a day pass to the Dunes, a commemorative T-shirt, and a tote bag filled with gifts from co-sponsors. Registration forms and fund raising sheets are available online at www.lakeshore12-20.org. Register online or by mail fee to: The Foundation For Molecular Medicine, 31 Lockerbie Drive, Valparaiso, IN 46385. Registration is $30 per person; on race day, registration is $35.

Frank Szczepanski of IV Diagnostics, co-founder and organizer, said “our LakeShore12-20 event promises to be the most exciting family event at the Indiana Dunes this summer. We expect over 1,000 people to attend and with your support, we will host this event every year with the hope of educating the general public on the need for early detection of cancer.”
