August First Fridays Celebrates Arts AliveSOUTH BEND — Downtown South Bend Inc.’s (DTSB) August First Fridays celebrates “Arts Alive,” this Friday, August 4th from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Free entertainment, live demonstrations, food & drink specials, and other activities can be found throughout downtown South Bend within the 38 participating businesses.

August's “Arts Alive” themed First Fridays is celebrating with a sneak preview of Art Beat 2017! We will be showcasing some of the visual and performing artists who will be participating in this year’s Art Beat with an Art Walk, live performances and a free art Friday scavenger hunt!

For easy transportation, Transpo will be offering free shuttle rides throughout downtown. The shuttle will run at each stop every 15 minutes from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The shuttle rides will also include a free mini tour of downtown, as the Shuttle Tour Guide entertains riders with historical tidbits, fun facts, and info on First Friday activities and promotions.

Downtown Business First Friday’s Activities:
Architectural Walking Tour Informative guided walking tour of beautiful West Washington Street area. The cost is $2 per person and reservations can be made at 574-282-1110, the tour meets at 5:30 pm.
A.R. Drew Art (121 S. Niles) Enjoy a fantastic evening of music, fashion, artists, collectors, community, and a cash bar.
Art Beat Performance Preview (Throughout Downtown) Doug Harsch 5:00 – 9:00 pm at the South Bend Chocolate Cafe, Grounded 6:00 – 6:45 pm at Studebaker Plaza, Ziynne-Kid of Pop 6:45 – 7:00 pm at Studebaker Plaza, Ruby Jazayre & The Sisters of the Nile 7:00 – 7:45 pm at Studebaker Plaza, and Marty Miles 8:00 – 11:00 pm at the Chicory Cafe.
Art Walk (Downtown Storefront Windows) Art Beat visual artists will be showcasing their work in downtown storefront windows.
Baker’s Bar & Grill (123 N. St. Joseph St.) Buy one appetizer, get one 50% off.
Barnaby’s (713 E. Jefferson Blvd.) $4 pints and any large 2 topping pizza, an order of breadsticks, and a pitcher of pop (or a 2 liter on carry out orders) for only $19.95 plus tax.

Drug Awareness Trailer (Gridiron Parking Lot) The South Bend Elks 235 promotes their kids drug awareness program.

Free Art Friday (Throughout Downtown) A special scavenger hunt for hidden artwork. Clues will be posted on the DTSB Facebook page throughout the night for visitors to travel around finding it.
Friends of the Library (333 S. Michigan St.) Sale on books, magazines, CDs, and much more from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Golden Roamer (The Gridiron) Tour the 24-foot recreational vehicle.

DTSB First Fridays features over 35 participating businesses and takes place from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on the first Friday of every month, year-round. Participating businesses remain open or host special events at a free or reduced rate. Future 2017 First Fridays date are September 1st, October 6th, November 3rd, and December 1st.
