Winfield to gain new water tank

Indiana American Water is installing a new 1.5 million-gallon elevated water tank in Winfield later this month.

Standing nearly 150 feet tall, the new concrete pedestal and steel water tank is near East 117th Ave. and Randolph St. The tank will increase water storage capacity, improve water pressure and enhance fire protection capabilities across the community. Residents will see the Town of Winfield’s emblem on the west side of the tank and Indiana American Water’s brand on the east side of the tank.

“This new water tank is a crucial investment in Winfield,” said Albert Turner, Indiana American Water engineering project manager, in a press release. “It will support the community’s growth and provide customers with more access to safe, clean and reliable water.”

The new tank required water distribution system improvements and is part of an $8.6 million investment in Winfield. The project was funded through customers’ rates statewide.

American Water provides drinking water and wastewater services to over 14 million people. It operates in 14 states and on 18 military installations. American Water was established in 1886.

Indiana American Water is a subsidiary of American Water. It provides services to about 1.5 million people.
