The cancellation of collegiate and professional sports in March because of the coronavirus outbreak cost Indiana’s retail and online sportsbooks about $125 million in wagers.
Indiana’s February sports betting handle totaled $187.2 million, up 9.6% from a then-record $170.8 million handle generated in January.
NFL playoff games in January contributed to shoring up Indiana’s position as the nation’s fourth largest legal sports betting market.
Indiana retail and online sportsbooks brought in $160 million in bets in December.
Analysts from PlayIndiana.com said Indiana retail sportsbooks accepted $35.2 million in bets in September, producing $8.6 million in adjusted gross revenue for the state’s sportsbooks.
