Valparaiso chamber to honor businesses

The City of Valparaiso and the Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce will recognize local businesses at the 58th Annual Community Improvement Awards Aug. 7.

The awards luncheon honors businesses that have demonstrated outstanding commitment and investment in the community. The awards recognize projects that have enhanced the visual and economic landscape of Valparaiso.

The 2025 award recipients include:

  • Birdie’s
  • Bluejay 2
  • Chipotle
  • Glendale Medical Complex
  • Golfview Apartments
  • LINC Parking Garage
  • Nextdoor at Birdie’s
  • Schillings
  • Valparaiso Creative Council
  • Velero’s

The Community Improvement Awards are based on the visual impact of a project’s exterior appearance. Projects are judged as to whether they enhance the attractiveness of Valparaiso and are compatible with the surrounding area and environment. Projects must also improve the quality of life, promote community pride and demonstrate a long-term commitment to Valparaiso’s future.

Since its inception, the program has honored over 400 properties for their contributions to the city’s vitality.

“The Community Improvement Awards are important because they recognize businesses that have invested in their properties—and in doing so, have also improved the neighborhoods they’re part of,” said Rex Richards, Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce president, in a press release.
