Old National, Bremer Financial to partner

Old National Bank has announced a partnership with Bremer Financial Corp.

Bremer Financial Corp. is based in St. Paul, Minnesota. The partnership bolsters Old National’s presence in the Twin Cities. It also expands its footprint into several other markets throughout Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin.

“This partnership represents an outstanding fit between two highly compatible, relationship- and community-focused banks,” said Jim Ryan, Old National chairman and CEO, in a press release. “When you look at what has made Bremer Bank a leading institution since 1943, what you quickly find are the same strategic priorities and cultural principles that have guided Old National’s success for 190 years.”

Old National Bank has dual headquarters in Evansville and Chicago. The bank has locations in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee and Iowa. The partnership transaction includes 48 branches in Minnesota, 14 in North Dakota and 8 in Wisconsin.

The definitive merger agreement was unanimously approved by the board of directors of Bremer and Old National. The transaction is anticipated to close in the middle of 2025.
