John Stewart will become Horizon Bancorp Inc.'s executive vice president and CFO.
Stewart has been in the financial services industry for 22 years. His most recent role was deputy chief financial officers at a $30 billion publicly traded bank.
“John has a proven and successful track record of leadership experience within larger organizations across many financial disciplines,” said Thomas Prame, Horizon’s chief executive officer and president, in a press release. “His broad and strategic understanding of how to create immediate shareholder value while positioning an organization for sustained top-peer performance will be a great addition to the highly talented senior leadership team already in place.”
Stewart succeeds Mark Secor as CFO on May 20. Secor was the bank's CFO for 16 years and will transition to chief administration office. His responsibilities will include investor relations, legal, benefits administration and corporate facilities.
“I want to thank Mark for his many accomplishments over the last 16 years leading the finance team and helping Horizon grow from $893 million to $7.8 billion,” Prame said. “During his tenure, Horizon successfully integrated 12 mergers and grew from 11 locations to over 70 today. Mark has an unwavering work ethic and passion to help advance the company.”
Stewart earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder through the CFA Institute.
