SOUTH BEND – The South Bend street formerly known as Showerlux Drive has been renamed by the city to Schafer Gear Drive. The street runs parallel to the property on which the company headquarters sits.

The new name was unveiled by Mayor Stephen Luecke in recognition of the new 50,000-square-foot facility. “We’re delighted to see the growth of Schafer Gear Works and the development of South Bend Gear which is creating new jobs for the City of South Bend and the area,” said Luecke.

South Bend Gear will produce gears for the engines of heavy-duty trucks.
