The official playbook of the Vibrant Michigan City economic inclusive initiative will be unveiled July 20.

The Economic Development Corp. Michigan City, the Brookings Institute and Local Initiative Support Services make up a collaborative effort that made the playbook possible.

“While this is the final step of the playbook process, this is the first step of making a true impact on these areas that is rooted in real research, data, discussions and expert guidance,” said EDCMC Executive Director Clarence Hulse in a press release. “We invite all of our community members to hear first-hand about this unprecedented effort, what has led us here and where we are going next.”

The launch event will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the HOPE Center, 222 McClelland Ave.

The playbook is a comprehensive guide for the challenges facing the West Side, Midtown and East Side areas of the city. It focuses on economic development, quality of life and environment.

Brookings and LISC selected Michigan City as one of three small towns to address economic and inequity issues. Seymour and Warsaw also were chosen to share their playbooks nationally as a guide for other small towns. The organizations have agreed to partner with the city for three years to support the implementation of action items in the playbook.

The Vibrant Michigan City website also launched this week.
