U.S. Steel posts fourth quarter loss

PITTSBURGH – U.S. Steel Corp., which operates three mills in Northwest Indiana, announced a fourth quarter loss of $226 million in the fourth quarter. One year ago, the loss was $249 million.

At the same time, the steelmaker announced revenue was $4.3 billion in the quarter, up 12 percent from one year ago.

U.S. Steel Gary Works is the largest steelmaking facility for the company. It also operates the Midwest mills in Portage and East Chicago Tin.
