WASHINGTON, D.C. – An analysis of data by the Census Bureau shows that the gender wage gap affects women across Indiana and that the disparity between men and women is worst in the 1st Congressional District.
The median yearly pay for women in Indiana is $11,160 less than the median pay for men, the equivalent of 75 cents on the dollar. In the 1st District, women receive just 67 cents on the dollar compared to men. Nationally, the disparity is 77 cents.
