HOBART – Northwest Indiana Volunteer Lawyers Inc., in conjunction with the region’s bar associations, will answer legal questions and provide general legal information to the public at no cost on Monday, Jan. 17.
Talk to a Lawyer Today will be held at 11 locations around Northwest Indiana as part of a program of the Indiana State Bar Association and the Pro Bono Committee of the First Judicial District as a tribute to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King.
The project is in its ninth year and has provided assistance to hundreds of Northwest Indiana residents.
Lawyers from the Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Jasper, Newton and Starke County Bar Associations will be available for 10- to 15-minute free walk-in consultations on a first-come first-served basis.
Lake County locations are West Side High School in Gary, the Lake Station/New Chicago Public Library, Lowell Public Library and City of Hammond Legal Aid Clinic; in Porter County at the Valparaiso University Law Library and Portage Township Trustee’s Office; in LaPorte County at the Michigan City Public Library and the LaPorte Public Library; the Newton County Public Library; the Starke County Public Library; and the Rensselaer Public Library in Jasper County.
