NIPSCO names new executives for regulatory issues, electric operations

NIPSCO2Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO), a subsidiary of NiSource Inc., appointed three Indiana-based executives to oversee key operations, which the company says will enhance its efforts to improve service.

The executives include:

  • Michael Hooper, senior vice president of regulatory and legislative affairs and strategy. He will be  responsible for the company’s regulatory and legislative activities and formulating NIPSCO’s strategic vision and plans. Hooper replaces Frank Shambo who will be retiring at the end of the year. Hooper joined NIPSCO in February 2011. He has served as senior vice president of electric operations and vice president of major projects. Hooper earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the West Virginia Institute of Technology.
  • Benjamin Felton, senior vice president of electric operations. He will be responsible for NIPSCO’s electric power delivery and generation operations. Felton joined NIPSCO in December 2015 as vice president of power delivery. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business management and a master’s degree in business administration from the Gainey School of Business at Spring Arbor University.
  • Paul Kelly was promoted to vice president of major accounts. Kelly joined NiSource, parent company of NIPSCO, as a consultant on regulatory issues in 2004 and NIPSCO’s regulatory team in 2010. He was named director of federal regulatory policy in 2012. Kelly earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Bob Jones University and a law degree from Valparaiso University.

Merrillville-based NIPSCO serves approximately 820,000 natural gas and 460,000 electric customers across Northern Indiana.
