VALPARAISO – Valparaiso is considering a proposal from Metronet, an Evansville company, to operate a fiber-optic network for telephone, Internet and television service. MICHIGAN CITY – The Woodland Cancer Care Center has opened at 8955 W. County Road 400 North, just south of Michigan City. The $12 million, 20,000-square-foot facility is operated by Franciscan St. Anthony Health-Michigan City. It offers Trilogy Linear Accelerator, PET/CT scan and diagnostic CT, 13 infusion bays, a laboratory and pharmacy and cancer screenings.
SOUTH BEND – Beacon Health System, which includes Elkhart General Hospital and Memorial Hospital of South Bend, have received the 2012 HealthGrades Patient Safety Excellence Award. MICHIGAN CITY – Horizon Bancorp has raised its quarterly dividend to 15 cents a share, up from 13 cents. The dividend will be paid on Oct. 12 to shareholders of record on Sept. 28. Horizon Bancorp operates Michigan City-based Horizon Bank. Its stock is traded on the NASDAQ Global Market.
