South Shore Convention & Visitors Authority chooses new president, CEO

Phil Taillon is the new president and CEO of the Hammond-based South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority.

The board unanimously selected Taillon to fill the position. In his new role, Taillon will work with the board, staff and partners to drive economic growth through tourism and attracting visitors to the South Shore region.

Prior to joining the SSCVA, Taillon served in various roles with the city of Hammond for the past 15 years. He also worked in the banking industry for 10 years.

Taillon is a lifelong resident of the Region. He is a graduate of the Bishop Noll Institute, a private Roman Catholic high school in Hammond, and Purdue University Northwest. Taillon brings an understanding of the needs and potential of Northwest Indiana to his new role.

Contract negotiations are still pending.

The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority is dedicated to promoting the South Shore region as a destination for visitors and events. The organization works to grow, foster community development and showcase the Region's rich cultural heritage. The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority was created by the Indiana General Assembly in 1983.
