The town of Merrillville's council is seeking an interim town manager.

“Merrillville is a vibrant and diverse community that offers a high quality of life for its residents and businesses,” Town Council President Rick Bella said in a press release. “We are looking for an interim town manager who can lead our town with integrity and efficiency.”

Patrick Reardon, who took on the role in 2019, resigned from the role in July. Reardon had worked in community development for the city of Hammond for 30 years before taking on the leadership role with Merrillville.

Steve King, Merrillville’s engineering administrator and street department director, is serving as acting town manager until an interim replacement is named.

The Town Council is conducting a nationwide search for a new town manager, but that process could take some time.

The interim position calls for a candidate with experience in local government administration, Bella said.

“Merrillville is Indiana’s largest town with a population of more than 36,000 residents, and we’re looking for a person who is interested in joining our team and making a positive impact on the community,” said Town Councilman Richard Hardaway, chairman of Merrillville’s personnel policy and employee benefits committee.

Applications can be found on the town's website.
