To encourage women to “Go Pink at Porter” and schedule their annual mammography screening, Porter Health Care System will host two special “pink” events in February.

First, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5, Porter Regional Hospital will host “Think Pink Thursday,” an event that offers women getting their mammography screenings a spa-like experience, with mini manicures and paraffin wax treatments as well as chair and hand massages by Serenity Salon and Spa. Bone density screenings and light refreshments will also be provided. “Think Pink Thursday”  will be held in the Center for Women’s Health at Porter Regional Hospital’s Medical Plaza, located at 85 East US Highway 6 in Valparaiso.

Then, from 7 a.m. to Noon on Saturday, Feb. 28, Portage Hospital will offer “Pink at Portage” where women may get their mammography screenings with a complimentary brunch and massage. “Pink at Portage” will be held in the Women’s Center at Portage Hospital, located at 3630 Willowcreek Road in Portage.

To participate in “Think Pink Thursday” or “Pink at Portage,” a woman must be age 40 or older and know the date of their last mammogram. Insurance will be charged and only covers one mammogram annually. Participants must pre-register for their appointment. For more information or to pre-register, call 219-983-8399.
