HAMMOND – More than 400 participants are expected to take part in Leon’s Triathlon Sunday, June 5, at Wolf Lake Park in Hammond. The event includes a 1.5K swim, a 40K bicycle ride and a 10K run.
The swim portion will be in Wolf Lake while the bicycle section of the race will be on parts of Calumet Avenue, Cline Avenue, Sheffield and Hohman Avenue. The run will bring participants back to Wolf Lake Park using Calumet and Sheffield. The race begins at 8 a.m.
Registration is still open to participants. Among the race sponsors are Indiana State Police, Lake County Sheriff’s Department, the Hammond and East Chicago police departments, the City of Hammond, Indiana Department of Transportation, Indiana Toll Road, and the Hammond Port Authority.
