HAMMOND – Northwest Indiana hosted some 300 basketball teams over the weekend for the Adidas Girls Hoosier Hardwood Classic and the Chicago Hoops Spring Show.
The Adidas Girls Hoosier Hardwood Classic featured 96 teams from across the country and the Chicago Hoops Spring Showdown attracted some 200 teams.
Hotel rooms throughout the region were booked for the event, including Portage, Chesterton, Valparaiso and Merrillville. Competition was held at Merrillville High School, the Fieldhouse in Merrillville, Highland’s Lincoln Center and Lake Central High School.
The event was organized through South Shore Sports Promotions through the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority. So far this year, the SSCVA has booked more than 6,750 rooms in Lake and Porter counties.
