Thousands to arrive in NWI for fastpitch World Series

The National Softball Association Northern World Series is expected to generate more than $10 million in regional economic impact this weekend.

More than 130 Midwest softball teams will compete July 15 through 19.

The event kicks off July 14 at the Crown Point Sportsplex with vendors, skills competitions and other networking opportunities from 2 to 7 p.m. Tournament play begins July 15 at facilities in Crown Point, Dyer, Schererville and La Porte.

“The NSA World Series remains one of the largest and most impactful sporting events in Northwest Indiana,” said Phil Taillon, South Shore Convention & Visitors Authority president and CEO, in a press release.

More than 6,000 participants and spectators are expected to descend on the Region's restaurants and hotels in-between games.

“We are honored to welcome these outstanding athletes and their families back to our region,” Taillon said. “Their visit not only brings excitement to our communities and ballfields but also supports local businesses and showcases everything that makes Northwest Indiana a memorable destination.”

Opening ceremonies will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. July 16 at Bulldog Park in Crown Point. The celebration will include food vendors, beer garden, DJ, bounce houses and other family-friendly activities. Learn more about the tournament here.
