Valparaiso-based HealthLinc and Opportunity Enterprises are collaborating to open an All Abilities Health Clinic.
The new health clinic will be at Opportunity Enterprises’ facility at 3101 Evans Avenue in Valparaiso. The goal of the initiative is to improve health care accessibility and affordability for individuals with disabilities and the broader community.
The HealthLinc clinic at Opportunity Enterprises will offer primary and immediate care services while prioritizing the needs of individuals with intellectual/developmental and physical disabilities.
The clinic will feature mobility-friendly exam rooms, a sensory room, an adult changing table, accessible equipment and staff specially trained to support individuals with sensory and mobility needs. The facility will house physical and occupational therapy services.
The clinic will also serve as a training site for new health care professionals, equipping them to better serve individuals with intellectual/developmental and physical disabilities.
“This clinic embodies Opportunity Enterprises’ mission of creating equitable opportunities for people of all abilities,” said Neil Samahon, Opportunity Enterprises president and CEO, in a press release. “By partnering with HealthLinc, we’re not just improving health care access – we’re reimagining what collaborative, community-based care can look like for people of all abilities.”
HealthLinc, a Federally Qualified Health Center, will equip and operate the clinic, offering sliding-scale fees and access to the 340B discounted medication program. Planning is underway and a timeline for opening is being determined.
“At HealthLinc, we believe that quality health care should be accessible to everyone,” Melissa Mitchell, HealthLinc CEO, said. “This partnership with Opportunity Enterprises is a model for how we can provide the best quality of care by meeting the needs of our patients. Together, we are building healthy communities.”
