Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice & In-Home Euthanasia expanded its services to Valparaiso.
Dr. Jess Lisak, a native of Valparaiso, is the Valparaiso mobile veterinarian.
“When I learned about Lap of Love and the work that they were doing, I was impressed and inspired to be part of it,” Lisak said on the Lap of Love website. “I feel called to help families say goodbye to their beloved pets in the most peaceful and compassionate way possible, and I am excited to provide this service for Northwest Indiana families.”
Lisak earned her bachelor’s degree in biology and attended veterinary school at Purdue University. For 10 years, she operated a small private practice.
“Through my experiences caring for senior pets, I also learned what a gift it was to be able to provide a peaceful and personal end-of-life experience for pets and the families who love them,” she said.
The Valparaiso office offers the following services:
- Telehospice
- In-home hospice
- In-home euthanasia
- Pet loss support
“It’s crucial that pets receive quality veterinary care in their last stage of life,” said Dr. Dani McVety, Lap of Love founder and CEO, in a press release. “It’s also a gift. Euthanasia means ‘good death,’ and ensuring your pet passes gently at home, surrounded by their favorite people, is the last gift you can give your beloved pet.”
McVety started Lap of Love in 2009 in Tampa, Florida. In 2023, it was listed on the Gator 100 list of the world's fastest-growing companies. The list is compiled by University of Florida graduates.
Lap of Love's support center is available 365 days a year from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. CST.
