Floor & Decor to open Schererville store

Floor & Decor will open a new location in a former Ashley Furniture store on Highway 41 in Schererville.

The retailer of hard-surface flooring will celebrate a ribbon cutting with the Crossroads Chamber of Commerce at 10 a.m. June 18. It will kick off a monthlong celebration.

Michael Albro, chief executive merchant, will lead a team of about 40 employees at the store.

“Bringing Floor & Decor to Schererville is an exciting milestone for our team,” said Albro in a press release. “For more than 25 years, we’ve focused on making quality, trend-forward hard surface flooring accessible to everyone, and we’re proud to extend that commitment to this community.”

Crown Point-based Latitude Commercial helped facilitate lease negotiations with the landlord of the 57,000-square-foot building at 1516 U.S. Highway 41.

“This is a fantastic addition to the Schererville market and the culmination of nearly a year of work,” said Brett McDermott of Latitude Commercial in a press release. “The building has sat vacant for close to eight years, so we are thrilled to announce this lease.”

Floor & Decor was represented by Jim Sakanich and Riley McCarron of CBRE’s Chicago office.

The Schererville store will be the first to debut the 30-day celebration, which will include daily giveaways, deals and demonstrations. Breakfast also will be served free from 7 to 10 a.m. Mondays June 22 through July 13. Learn more about in-store events here.
