Community leaders and speakers gathered to celebrate the opening of Meats by Linz’s new headquarters and facility in Hammond.

Guests and speakers included Mayor Thomas McDermott Jr., Meats by Linz owner and CEO Frederick Linz and project manager Rob Ferrino. The event included a ribbon cutting and a tour of the $52 million building. Rosebud Steakhouse catered a luncheon. The new production facility features 80,000 square feet of operational space, a 4,000 square foot dry-aging room, offices and a test kitchen.

“Our growth and success since my grandfather opened a neighborhood butcher shop 60 years ago stems directly from the dedication and unwavering spirit of every member of our team,” Linz said in a press release. “Along with our world-class ranching operations, this grand opening reflects our exciting growth within the industry, and we’re honored to share this milestone with the Hammond community, our team, our partners and our supporters.”

The ceremony highlighted the opportunity for Meats by Linz to better serve its customer markets. The company will transition over 300 jobs to Hammond. Calumet City, Illinois, is listed as its corporate office on its website.

“Having an internationally known company like Meats by Linz relocate its global headquarters to Hammond is a huge economic development victory for our city,” McDermott said.

The project was led by Alston Construction with 219 Development Services and Baurer Construction Services. It was designed by Rieke Interiors.

Meats by Linz was founded as a family business in 1963. The company serves steakhouses, hotels, country clubs, casinos, cruise lines and resorts. Meats by Linz established Linz Heritage Angus in 2012. The Linz family ranch raises Black Angus cattle, bridging the gap between rancher and chef.
