Chicago-based F.H. Paschen has invested $250,000 in its regional office in Michigan City.

The construction company has more than 500 employees in offices around the country, including 15 in Indiana. The Michigan City location at 2146 N. Karwick Road has nine supervisory and administrative staff members.

“F.H. Paschen’s Indiana civil office is operated by Indiana residents who are all located within 30 to 60 minutes of Michigan City,” said F.H. Paschen Civil Operations Manager James Reitz in a press release. “Our area of focus for the work we build is within up to 90 minutes of Michigan City.”

The company also employs between 40 and 50 trade seasonal workers.

The company's work includes the South Shore Line’s West Lake Corridor design and construction project. It also repairs, renovates and rebuilds facilities such as bridges and schools.

Economic Development Corp. Michigan City Executive Director Clarence Hulse said the city is seeking companies like F.H. Paschen to expand Michigan City's economic development base.

“They will build capacity in our toolbox as we build our economic future,” Hulse said. “We are excited to be chosen for this expansion by a national company.”

Reitz said an office in Michigan City has some pretty big perks.

“We all thoroughly enjoy being close to Lake Michigan where we all spent summers at the beach as kids and now as adults,” he said. “Michigan City is our new home, and we could not be happier being here.”

F.H. Paschen has offices in Texas, Georgia, Illinois, Florida, Ohio, Michigan and Washington D.C.
