Pittsburgh-based United States Steel Corp. recently rolled out ZMAG, a new coated steel product.

The new carbon flat rolled coated steel is engineered to be stronger, more resilient and more sustainable. It is made with verdeX steel containing up to 90% recycled steel content.

ZMAG coated steel will have a variety of uses, including the solar, automotive and construction industries in which longevity and durability is key. The product is melted and manufactured in the U.S. It is coated at PRO-TEC in Ohio.

“In today’s industrial landscape, the need for materials that can withstand harsh and corrosive environments is more critical than ever,” James Bruno of U. S. Steel Košice said in a press release. “Whether it’s rain, sleet or snow, ZMAG coated steel has the toughness to ensure projects are built to last.”

Bruno added that ZMAG steel represents U.S. Steel’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact because the product lasts longer and the production process reduces waste.

United States Steel Corp. was founded in 1901. It serves the automotive, construction, appliance, energy, containers and packaging industries. U. S. Steel has operations across the United States and in Central Europe. Gary Works is U.S. Steel’s largest manufacturing facility.
