Barnes & Thornburg relocated its Elkhart office back downtown on Nov. 17.
“We are thrilled to be moving to the center of the action in Elkhart,” said Timothy Emerick, managing partner of the firm’s South Bend and Elkhart offices, in a press release.
Barnes & Thornburg’s new site at 240 E. Jackson Blvd. is at the center of Elkhart’s downtown district. The former office was at 52700 Independence Court. The legal firm’s new neighbors include Lake City Bank, Patrick Industries and the Elkhart Community Foundation.
Barnes & Thornburg’s roots in Elkhart run deep. In 1965, the Elkhart-based company Cawley & Harman merged with the South Bend-based firm Oare, Thornburg, McGill & Deall.
In 1982, Thornburg, McGill, Deahl, Harman, Carey & Murray melded with a well-established firm in Indianapolis. The merger with Barnes, Hickam, Pantzer & Boyd led to the creation of Barnes & Thornburg. Together they formed one of the largest firms in the Midwest.
Barnes & Thornburg is dedicated to playing an active role in Elkhart’s growth and future development.
“This move is the latest evidence of our commitment to the Elkhart region, and will further enable our attorneys and business professionals to remain fully vested in the community,” Emerick said. “We look forward to continuing to provide clients throughout North Central Indiana with exceptional service.”
The architecture firm responsible for designing Barnes & Thornburg’s new office was Cripe Design. The contractor was DJ Construction.
Barnes & Thornburg has more than 800 attorneys and other legal professionals. They serve clients worldwide from 23 offices throughout the U.S.
Barnes & Thornburg has four locations in Indiana: Elkhart, South Bend, Fort Wayne and Indianapolis. They support hometown, regional and national business clients.
