Centier Bank was named Business of the Year by Opportunity Enterprises.
The bank was honored during the Valparaiso nonprofit's Celebration of Achievement ceremony Oct. 22.
Merrillville-based Centier Bank has donated more than $163,000 to OE's programing for people living with disabilities.
“We have seen the amazing things stemming from the clients of OE, and we have been proud to do whatever we can to help be a part of creating opportunities for everyone,” said Chris Campbell, president of Centier Bank, in a press release. “We are so lucky to have this organization here in our community, making such a difference every day.”
Centier donated $50,000 to OE's respite center, which allows caregivers opportunities to recharge while particpants interact with their peers.
Centier employees also have volunteered 400 hours to the organization. OE's popcorn also is sold in the cafe of Centier's Merrillville headquarters, and the bank uses Secure Shred services.
“My family and I live here in Valparaiso, and I have personally seen first-hand how the work of OE has enriched the lives of those within our community,” Campbell said. “All it takes is one interaction with the people of OE to understand that there is something really powerful happening, and Centier is just thrilled to be a part of that in any way we can.”
Centier Bank was founded in 1895 and is committed to a servant heart culture. It serves 35 communities at 64 offices, and employs more than 1,1oo people.
