First Financial Bank is kicking off a book drive to improve financial literacy in Northwest Indiana.
Community members can drop off books about personal finance and other subjects at First Financial locations in Crown Point, Gary, Hobart, Hammond, Highland and Schererville. Donors do not need to be First Financial Bank clients. Locations will have specially marked bins for book donations.
The book drive will run from May 6 through 24. At the end of the book drive, First Financial associates will deliver the books to schools, libraries and nonprofit organizations in the community.
“This will be a fun drive for everyone involved, and we’re looking forward to filling every one of these book bins,” said Roddell McCullough, First Financial Bank chief corporate responsibility officer, in a press release. “Reading and financial literacy often go hand in hand, so this is an opportunity to team up with the community to help our neighbors improve their financial well-being.”
Each financial center will also have available a list of financial resources and recommended books on finance for all ages. First Financial also offers financial wellness tools and resources online.
During First Financial’s most recent book drive in 2022, banks collected over 20,000 books throughout Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois.
Founded in 1863, First Financial Bank provides banking and financial services products. First Financial Bank is a subsidiary of Cincinnati, Ohio-based First Financial Bancorp. The company operates 130 full-service banking centers in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois.
