Merrillville-based Centier Bank announced the opening of a new branch in Cedar Lake on April 29.

Centier Bank has served Cedar Lake for 11 years with a branch in Strack and Van Til. Due to community growth over the last decade, the bank decided to open a new stand-alone branch.

“We’re very excited to welcome clients to the new branch, which represents our unwavering commitment to investing in our Indiana communities for an even better tomorrow,” said Michael Schrage, Centier Bank CEO and chairman of the board, in a press release. “Centier prides itself on building caring relationships through community banking, and we are looking forward to many continued years serving Cedar Lake.”

The bank broke ground on the building site at 9728 W. 133rd Ave. in June 2023. Janelle Spindler, branch manager, and Tiffany Hart, assistant branch manager, will lead the new banking center, along with bankers Alyssa Tieri, Esmeralda Wilkins and Felicia Rhoda.

“I have been serving Centier’s Cedar Lake clients for over five years, and the caring relationships we’ve built in the community have been truly rewarding,” Spindler said. “Centier has a strong presence in Cedar Lake – participating in annual parades, farmers markets and giving back through financial education outreach and philanthropy. We truly care about providing the best banking experiences to our clients.”

Centier Bank was founded by Henry Schrage in 1895. The bank’s first location was in Whiting. Today, Centier Bank has over 60 branches across 11 counties in Indiana.
