Powers Health recognized

Powers Health and Powers Health Rehabilitation Center have been honored with NRC Health Excellence in Patient Experience Awards.

The hospitals of Powers Health – Community Hospital in Munster, St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart and Powers Health Rehabilitation Center in Crown Point received the Small Health System Award for 2025. Powers Health Rehabilitation Center also earned the Specialty Hospital Award.

The annual awards recognize hospitals and health systems nationwide for providing outstanding patient experiences across the continuum of care. Winners are selected after receiving an exceptional Net Promoter Score from patients and their families.

“At Powers Health, we prioritize patients’ experience because we know the impact a positive encounter has on a person’s overall health,” said Dr. Alan Kumar, chief operating officer, in a press release. “We strive to ensure patients and their loved ones feel heard, comforted and welcome.”

NRC Health selects clients based on their achievement within categories that patients have defined as being most important. Health care systems and hospitals were selected for the award based on their score for the “Would Recommend Facility” question during the time period of April 1, 2024 – March 31, 2025.

“At Powers Health Rehabilitation Center, we engage with our patients in a way that shows empathy, courtesy and understanding to deliver a patient experience that is of the highest standard,” Craig Bolda, Powers Health Rehabilitation Center administrator, said.

The achievement is the result of a team effort, according to Helen Hrdy, NRC Health chief operating officer.

“This year’s Excellence in Patient Experience Award winners have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to listening to patients and their families and improving care in ways that reflect NRC Health’s mission of human understanding,” Hrdy said. “This achievement highlights the dedication of their entire teams, and we’re proud to celebrate their successes.”
