Gary-based Families Anchored in Total Harmony (FAITH) CDC was named one of the Marbleseed Changemakers of the Year.
FAITH CDC is an organization dedicated to uplifting communities. Its initiatives focus on food justice, social justice, environmental sustainability, economic development and health equity.
Marbleseed’s Changemakers recognition highlights emerging leaders in the organic farming and food movement. The honorees work to overcome systemic challenges to nurture a thriving agricultural future for all.
Curtis Whittaker, FAITH CDC president and CEO, said the organization’s work is rooted in its faith.
“We are growing where we have been planted, and we are doing our small part to help make our community a better place,” he said in a press release.
Whittaker said that the recognition means the organization’s labor is not in vain.
“It means that we are on the right track and that no matter how hard it gets, we cannot quit or throw in the towel,” he said. “This recognition is an additional gust of wind beneath our wings that gives us that boost to soar even higher and go even further.”
Supporters are invited to recognize and celebrate FAITH CDC’s work at the 36th annual Marbleseed Organic Farming conference Feb. 20-22 in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Marbleseed was established in 1995 to support farmers in their transition toward sustainable, organic farming systems that are ecologically sound, economically viable and socially just.
Faith Farms is a farm owned and operated by Progressive Community Church. The farm grows fruits and vegetables year-round.
