HAMMOND, Ind. — Area residents who want to improve their job and career prospects during the current economic recession can gain insights and perspectives at a Purdue University Calumet-hosted program, Tuesday, June 22 at 6:15 p.m.
Working Smarter in Tough Economic Times is designed for individuals searching for a job, others concerned about work force reduction, those who are at a career crossroads, others planning to return to the work force after an extended absence, and individuals who are exploring the prospect of starting or purchasing a business.
The 23rd annual Purdue Calumet program will feature brief, fast-paced sessions intended to help attendees focus on: how to be effective conducting a job search by thinking differently, how to use social networking to enhance a job search, how to self-assess work interests and environment in preparing for a job search, how to increase marketability through short-term educational options, plus success tips and viewpoints for starting and/or purchasing a business by entrepreneurs who have ‘been there and done that.’
“This program is intended for anyone who wants to become more job- and career-marketable during today’s challenging economy,” Purdue Calumet Assistant Vice Chancellor for Advancement/University Relations and program coordinator Wes Lukoshus said. “While not a job fair, this program, hopefully, will provide insightful information to equip and direct attendees for enriching, jump starting or redirecting their professional lives.”
