The Construction Advancement Foundation of Northwest Indiana will use a federal grant to help train companies on mental health initiatives.
Congressman Frank Mrvan announced the $135,565 Targeted Topic Training Grant under the Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Susan Harwood Training Grant program.
“I applaud the initiative of the Construction Advancement Foundation to continue their commitment to the well-being and safety of workers in Northwest Indiana,” Mrvan said in a press release. “I will continue to do all I can to support federal resources that are targeted to improve access and awareness of valuable mental health resources.”
OSHA specified that the award will be used to create a training program that will raise awareness of workplace mental health and suicide prevention.
“The success of this grant approval reflects a commitment to the highest standards of worksite safety on the part of Northwest Indiana’s contractors, building trades, unions and project owners,” said Dewey Pearman, Construction Advancement Foundation executive director.
