The Chesterton-based Duneland Chamber of Commerce is planning a State of the Schools event on Sept. 5.

The event offers an opportunity for community members to stay informed about the progress and future direction of the Duneland School Corp. It also provides a platform for engagement and dialogue with the community's educational leadership.

“We are excited to partner with the Duneland School Corp. for this event,” said Maura Mundell, chamber president, in a press release. “This collaboration highlights the vital relationship between our chamber and the local schools.”

Chip Pettit, Duneland School Corp. superintendent, will provide an update on various aspects of the local schools. Topics will include the new strategic plan, student performance metrics, staffing updates and facilities. Pettit will also discuss the district’s financial status.

“By offering this event, we aim to strengthen connections and engagement, supporting our schools as the foundation of a thriving community,” Mundell said.

Attendees will enjoy a light breakfast and refreshments. The event is free and open to the public. It will take place from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Chesterton. Learn more here.
