HAMMOND – “A Christmas Story” Comes Home exhibit at the Indiana Welcome Center will be on display through Jan. 9. The first weekend event, “Kid’s Kickoff” will be Sunday, Nov. 21, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Children can enjoy a free train ride around the exhibit and displaying, make crafts and write letters to Santa. In addition, there will be live entertainment, a scavenger hunt and “A Christmas Story” bingo. The movie, “A Christmas Story, will play in the 100-seat theater at noon and 2 p.m. All events are free.
On Dec. 4 and 5, member of the cast will be present to sign autographs and talk to fans. Autograph sessions are noon to 3 p.m. both days. Fees will be charged for autographs.
Other events include “Mommy’s Little Piggy” Eating Contest where Ian Petrella (Randy in the movie) will be a special judge. The contest will be at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 5 and entries can be filled out online at www.aChristmasStoryComesHome.com.
Tedde Moore (the teacher, Miss Shields) will grade entries and announce the winner of the theme contest at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 5. Entries for the Write a Theme: What I Want for Christmas will be accepted until Nov. 30 at the welcome center, 7770 Corinne Drive, Hammond.
