MERRILLVILLE – The Sun-Times Media Group, which owns the Post-Tribune of Northwest Indiana, has announced it is closing some of its suburban Chicago newsrooms.

A final decision on which offices will be closed hasn’t been announced, but the Post-Tribune in Merrillville could be one of them.

The Sun-Times Media Group is looking to cuts costs in order to pull the newspaper company out of debt. The company also owns The Star newspaper in Crown Point.

If the office is closed, reporters would be retained, but instead of working from a local office, they would work from home.
