KNOX – Starke Memorial Hospital has announced that its campus is now 100 percent tobacco free.
A public event to mark the announcement will be at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19. Golden Living Center in Knox has partnered with SMH and also will become 100 percent tobacco free.
“We encourage all community members to work toward becoming tobacco free and choosing healthier lifestyles. This transition ensures our commitment to improving the health and well-being of Starke County,” said Linda Satkoski, chief executive officer.
SMH also is working with the American Lung Association to offer a smoking cessation program. The six-week program is offered at 7 p.m. each Wednesday from Dec. 15 to Jan. 19. The program is $60 per person and to register, call (574) 772-1183.
