Restaurants support clean water effort

INDIANAPOLIS – From Nov. 5 to 14, participating central Indiana restaurants will ask diners if they would be willing to pay $1 or more for a class of water they usually enjoy for free. The reason is to bring attention to the nearly 900 million people worldwide who lack access to safe drinking water.

Money raised during the effort will go to the UNICEF Tap Project, which can provide a child with safe drinking water for 40 days for $1.

The effort coincides with the 15th annual Spirit & Place Festival. Supporters are the Indiana Restaurant Association, Café Patachou and Congregation Beth-El Zedeck.
