WEST LAFAYETTE – The recently created Center for Global Food Security at Purdue University has named Gary Burniske as managing director.

Burniske was director of Mercy Corps in Bogota, Colombia, and will run the daily operations of the center at Discovery Park near the West Lafayette campus. He also announced the center had received grants worth $10 million to help improve crops in Africa and train the next generation of global food security experts.

“I envision the center being a catalyst for dramatic improvements in food security by sharing the tremendous wealth of knowledge and innovation generated at Purdue University,” said Burniske.
