PNC honored by United Way of LaPorte County

            WESTVILLE – Purdue University North Central and several of its employees have been honored by the United Way of LaPorte County.

            PNC was designated as the 2010 Cornerstone Award Organization. The award recognizes the largest contributing organization in LaPorte County. Accepting the honor was Chancellor James B. Dworkin, who also is a member of the United Way of LaPorte County campaign cabinet.

            Also honored was Mary Jane Eisenhauer, PNC assistant professor of education, who received the Success by 6 Service to Children Award. It recognizes people who have been a pioneer in improving the lives of young people in LaPorte County.

            Fred Miller, a PNC retiree, received the Burton B. Ruby Award, named in honor of United Way board chair emeritus Burton B. Ruby. The award recognizes a commitment to volunteerism.

            PNC also was recognized for its support of the loaned executive program in which executives are assigned to assist United Way. Among them were Karen Schmidt, vice chancellor for academic affairs; Fred McNulty, director of engagement; Christabel Rogalin, assistant professor of sociology; and Dominic Micer, assistant professor of English.
