GRIFFITH – Lake Area United Way is looking for ordinary heroes and is asking the public for help in identifying them.
The video contest will allow everyday heroes to tell their own story on how they are changing lives for the better in Northwest Indiana in education, financial stability and health.
“United Way’s call to action is to encourage people to Live United,” said Aaron McDermott, of Latitude Commercial Real Estate. “By giving, advocating and volunteering together, we can create opportunities for a better life for everyone and that’s what this Everyday Community Hero contest celebrates.”
People can submit their own video or United Way videotaping booths are offered at Calumet College, Indiana University Northwest, Purdue University Calumet and Westfield Southlake Mall.
Nominations cannot exceed 90 seconds and all submissions are due by 11:59 p.m. on Feb. 3. The public will vote until midnight Feb. 17. Three $1,500 and $500 cash prizes will be given to the top videos.
