United Way Regional Volunteer Center is seeking volunteers to help area nonprofits during its annual Day of Caring event on Aug. 10.
Billed as the largest single-day volunteer event across Northwest Indiana, Day of Caring brings together nonprofits, businesses, municipalities, churches, civic groups and individuals to change lives one project at a time.
“This force of humanity sweeps across the Region promoting good will while helping to sustain a thriving community,” said Kim Olesker, president and CEO of United Way of Porter County. “The support of volunteers whether on a single day or year-round is the glue that holds our community together.”
United Way seeks more than 1,500 volunteers to help with 90 service projects in Lake, Porter and LaPorte Counties. Volunteers can choose from activities including painting, landscaping, building, cleaning, hosting picnics and taking kids fishing. Volunteers who are unable to participate onsite still can participate by hosting an office collection drive or donating blood at an American Red Cross blood drive.
