Ivy Tech Community College sees increase in students transferring credits to four-year universities

Ivy TechINDIANAPOLIS  – Ivy Tech Community College sent 25,887 students with transfer credits to four-year higher education institutions during the 2016-2017 academic year, a 2.6 percent increase from 25,233 in the 2015-2016 academic year.

Additionally, the college saw 2,970 students transfer a certificate or degree, which reflects a 23 percent increase in certificates and degrees earned.

Of the students who transferred credits, 39 percent were in Ivy Tech’s Dual Credit program and completed Ivy Tech coursework while still in high school, a 1 percent gain over the prior academic year, the college said.

Indiana University – Bloomington accepted the largest volume of Ivy Tech transfers with 4,953 students transferring credits. Purdue University – West Lafayette followed with 3,729 Ivy Tech transfers, then IUPUI with 3,321 transfers, Ball State University with 2,241 transfers, and University of Southern Indiana with 1,106 transfers.
